An evening with The Very Reverend Dr Mark Oakley, Dean of Southwark, in conversation with theatre director and dramaturg Brigid Larmour.

Join Theatre Chaplaincy UK at the Actors’ Church for an evening of lively discussion on the intersection of faith and creativity as our speakers explore the topics of artistry, inspiration, and the drive to create. Expect a warm and friendly atmosphere as they examine these huge subjects in an inclusive and accessible way, before opening the debate to the wider audience.

Brigid Larmour is a highly respected director, teacher, dramaturg and cultural leader with forty years’ experience in the theatre and TV industry in the UK and America. She is a passionate believer in the power of arts to change lives. Educated at Cambridge University and trained at the Royal Shakespeare Company, she is an expert director of Shakespeare and classical texts. She is a skilled and award-winning script editor and dramaturg and has collaborated with leading British playwrights like Timberlake Wertenbaker, Rebecca Lenkiewicz, Charlotte Keatley, Gary Owen, Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti and Kevin Elyot. From the beginning of her career Brigid has particularly sought to empower and give voice to other women, and to Global Majority actors and creatives.

The Very Rev’d Dr Mark Oakley is Dean of Southwark. Formerly Dean of St John’s College, Cambridge, and Chancellor of St Paul’s Cathedral, he is an author of several books on poetry and theology. He was awarded the international Michael Ramsey Prize for theological writing, and the Lanfranc Award by the Archbishop of Canterbury for education and scholarship. He has worked at the Actors’ Church in Covent Garden as Rector and has a strong interest in theatre. He is also Patron of Tell Mama, monitoring Islamophobic hate crime, and Ambassador for Stop Hate UK.
